"Weeks after a 7 On Your Side report about possible asbestos in a popular toy, it is now being removed from store shelves. CBS Broadcasting asked all "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Fingerprint Examination Kits" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Field Kits" be pulled off store shelves. The company said, "fingerprint powder in the kits may be contaminated with asbestos." Public Justice, America 's public interest law firm, wrote to CBS a week ago on behalf of the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization. ADAO conducted tests finding some of the toys were contaminated."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), FGX International Inc., of Smithfield, R.I., is voluntarily recalling about 260,000 Children's Sunglasses. Surface paint on the sunglasses can contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Iceberg Enterprises LLC, of Park Ridge, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 75,000 Plastic Folding Chairs. The plastic folding chairs can collapse during use, posing a fall hazard to consumers."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bassettbaby, of Bassett, Va., is voluntarily recalling about 8,900 Wendy Bellissimo Collection Convertible Cribs. The bolts connecting the top corners of the crib can come loose, creating a gap and posing a serious entrapment and strangulation hazard."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hunter Fan Co., of Memphis, Tenn, is voluntarily recalling about 84,000 Warm Mist Carefree Humidifiers. Water used in the humidifier can leak into the unit's electrical compartment, posing a fire hazard."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Amscan Inc., of Elmsford, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 43,000 'Ugly Teeth' Party Favors. The surface paint on the teeth contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Global Design Concepts Inc., of New York, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 110,000 magnetic game pieces sold with 'Cars' themed backpacks. Small magnets inside the four game pieces that were sold with the 'Cars' backpack can fall out of their plastic enclosure. Magnets found by young children can be swallowed or aspirated. If more than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforation or blockage, which can be fatal."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), QVC Razor USA LLC, of Cerritos, Calif. Is voluntarily recalling about 20,000 RazorÆ E300 Electric Scooters. A weld can break causing the handlebar to detach. This can cause the rider to lose control and fall from the scooter."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Antioch Publishing, of Yellow Springs, Ohio, is voluntarily recalling about 200,000 (an additional 150,000 bookmarks and journals were recalled on October 4, 2007) Cool Clip™ and Mini Cool Clip™ Bookmarks. Paint on the clip of the bookmarks contains excessive levels of lead, which violates the federal lead paint standard."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), QVC Inc., of West Chester, Pa. and Salton Inc., of Lake Forest, Ill., are voluntarily recalling about 5,200 Cook's Essential Electric Toasters. The toaster can turn on without bread in the slots and ignite items placed on top of it, posing a fire hazard."
"The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
is announcing today a voluntary recall with Simplicity Inc., of Reading,
Pa., of about 1 million cribs. The drop-side can detach from the crib,
which can create a dangerous gap and lead to the entrapment and suffocation
of infants. CPSC is aware of two deaths in Simplicity manufactured cribs
with older style hardware, including a 9-month-old child and a 6-month-old
child, where the drop-side was installed upside down. CPSC is also aware
of seven infant entrapments and 55 incidents in these cribs."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bond Infantino LLC, of San Diego, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 68,000 Shape Sorting Toy Castles. The plastic rod can come loose allowing the colored counting beads to slide off of the toy, posing a choking hazard to young children." "In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), McCormick Distilling Co., doing business as Tequila Rose Distilling Co., of Weston, Mo., is voluntarily recalling about 60,000 Tequila Rose Strawberry Cream candle sets. The martini glass containing the gel candle can break while the candle is burning, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Lamson & Sessions, of Cleveland, Ohio, is voluntarily recalling about 100,000 Carlon® Drop-In Floor Boxes. The recalled floor boxes are wired incorrectly resulting in reverse polarity. This poses a shock or electrocution hazard to consumers."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hunter's View, of Peoria, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 200,000 additional harnesses (about 500,000 were recalled in April 2005.) Safety Harnesses Sold with Tree Stands and Harnesses Provided as Replacements. The harnesses could fail during use, resulting in a hunter falling from the tree stand and suffering serious injuries or death."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Circuit City Stores Inc., of Richmond, Va. and Logitek (HK) International Co. Ltd., of Hong Kong, are voluntarily recalling about 9,900 'Verge' Flat Panel Television Tilt-Mount Brackets. If upward force is applied to a mounted television, the bracket's lock bar could unfasten. This could cause the television to fall and injure bystanders."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Digital Security Controls, of Toronto, Canada, is voluntarily recalling about 32,000 Digital Security Controls FSA and FSB Series Smoke Detectors. These smoke detectors could fail to reliably detect smoke during a fire."
"Bausch & Lomb Inc. is recalling more than a million bottles of a contact-lens solution and expects to report that 2006 sales fell 3% from a year earlier. The Rochester, N.Y., eye-care products maker said the 12 lots of ReNu MultiPlus contact-lens solution made at its Greenville, S.C., plant were being recalled in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, South Korea and Taiwan. Last year, Bausch & Lomb recalled a different lens solution, ReNu with MoistureLoc, manufactured at the same plant, after it was associated with a serious fungal infection of the eye. Bausch & Lomb said the recall of MultiPlus -- a product it offered free to MoistureLoc users after that solution was shelved -- is a very different situation that hasn't been linked to any 'serious adverse events.' "
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd., of Japan and distributor Lenovo (United States) Inc., of Research Triangle Park, N.C., is voluntarily recalling about 100,000 battery packs (an additional 105,000 battery packs were sold worldwide) Lithium-ion extended-life batteries used in ThinkPad notebook computers. If the battery in the laptop is struck forcefully on the corner, such as from a direct fall to the ground, the battery pack can overheat and pose a fire hazard to users. This is not an internal battery cell defect."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Water Heating Division of Rheem Sales Company Inc., of Montgomery, Ala. and Paloma Industries Inc., of Oxnard, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 42,200 Power Vent tankless water heaters. Components inside the water heater may shift during transit, causing an air filter door switch to operate improperly. If the switch fails and the air filter door is out of place, the water heater could continue to operate and dust and lint could build up, posing a carbon monoxide poisoning hazard."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Fisher-Price, of East Aurora, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 500,000 (an additional 700,000 were sold worldwide) "Laugh and Learn" Learning Bunny Toys. The pink pompom nose can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), JAKKS Pacific Inc., of Malibu, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 245,000 Battery Packs for Toy Vehicles. The lithium-ion polymer batteries used to charge the toy vehicles can ignite while charging, posing a fire hazard."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), The Holmes Group, of Milford, Mass., is voluntarily recalling about 300,000 Holmes® Oscillating Tower Fans. Electrical arcing in the fan's wiring can cause a fire hazard."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Detour Corp., doing business as Version-X, of Studio City, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 18,000 Travel'N Baby Mini Hair Dryers. These electric hair dryers are not equipped with an immersion protection plug to prevent electrocution if the hair dryer falls into water. Electric shock protection devices are required by industry standards for all electric hand-held hair dryers. If the hair dryer falls into water during use and is not equipped with this safety device, it can pose a shock and/or an electrocution hazard to consumers."
"In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Arctic Cat Inc., of Thief River Falls, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 1,500 Arctic Cat 90cc DVX and Utility model All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). On the recalled ATVs, the handlebar base mounting bolts, tie-rod ends and tie-rod adjustment locking nuts may not have been tightened to the proper torque during the production process. Operating an affected ATV could cause components to loosen resulting in loss of steering control. This condition could result in loss of vehicle control which could result in injury or death."

The boiler assembly is not properly sealed. Pressure Washers and Air Compressors Recalled By DeVilbiss Due to Fracture and Laceration Hazards In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), DeVilbiss Air Power Company, of Jackson, Tenn., is voluntarily recalling about 620,000 pressure washers and 72,000 air compressors. The pressure washers and air compressors have pneumatic tires with plastic hubs that can burst, posing a laceration or fracture hazard to consumers. Macy’s Recalls Infant Coveralls Due to Choking Hazard In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Macy's Merchandising Group Inc., of New York, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 500 Baby greendog girl's knit coveralls. The snaps on the legs of the coveralls can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. Clarion Recalls Vehicle Navigation and Entertainment System Batteries Due to Burn and Fire Hazards In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Clarion Corporation of America, of Cypress, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 2,500 Batteries in Clarion N.I.C.E. P200 Navigation and Entertainment Systems. The lithium-ion batteries in these units can melt or overheat posing burn and fire hazards to consumers. BRIO Corp. Recalls Bell Rattles for Choking Hazard In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), BRIO AB, of Sweden, is voluntarily recalling about 5,550 BRIO Bell Rattles. The small bell positioned between the wood slats can break and allow access to small parts. This poses a choking hazard to young children. Emerson Electric Co. Recalls Ceiling Fans for Injury Hazard from Falling Blades In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Air Comfort Products Division of Emerson Electric Co., of St. Louis, Mo., is voluntarily recalling about 4,000 Emerson 60-inch Designer Ceiling Fan. The brackets holding the fan blades can break, causing the blade to detach. Falling pieces can hit and injure bystanders. Liberty Mountain Recalls Climbing Harnesses Due to Fall Hazard In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Liberty Mountain, of Salt Lake City, Utah, is voluntarily recalling about 5,900 Edelweiss Challenge Climbing Harnesses. The buckles on the harness' leg loops could fail, posing a fall hazard for climbers. Scott Electric Co. Inc. Recalls Counterfeit Circuit Breakers Due To Fire Hazard In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Scott Electric Co. Inc., of Greensburg, Pa., is voluntarily recalling about 30,000 Counterfeit "Square D" Circuit Breakers. The recalled circuit breakers labeled "Square D" are counterfeit and might not trip when they are overloaded, posing a fire hazard to consumers. Target Recalls Various Toys Due to Lead and Laceration Hazards In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Target Stores, of Minneapolis, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 190,500 "Kool Toyz" Children's Products. Some of these toys contain lead paint, which is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects. Also, some of the toys have sharp points, posing laceration or puncture wound hazards. Target Recalls “Play Wonder” Puzzle Tables for Choking and Laceration Hazards In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Target, of Minneapolis, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 7,100 "Play Wonder" Puzzle Tables. The handles on the puzzle pieces can come off, posing a choking hazard to young children. Also, the tips of the nails on the inside shelf of the puzzle table could be exposed, posing a laceration or puncture hazard. Decorative Snaps and Metal Clips Recalled by Provo Craft Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Provo Craft, of Spanish Fork, Utah, is voluntarily recalling about 76,000 Decorative Snaps and Metal Clips. The recalled clips and snaps contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects. ANSUL® Recalls Fire Extinguisher that Could Fail to Operate In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Ansul Incorporated, of Marinette, Wis., is voluntarily recalling about 154,000 K-GUARD®, SENTRY® and FLAG FIRE® Model Fire Extinguishers. If the fire extinguisher is dropped horizontally from a height of approximately 2 to 3 feet, the pick-up tube could crack at the threads between the pick-up tube adaptor and the stainless steel tube. If a pick-up tube is cracked, the extinguisher can fail to discharge properly when activated, which can put users at risk during a fire.
